An original story written by our offline (Jaipur) student Ansh Baheti.

Ansh is 10 years old. A young sports enthusiast and a hard-working boy. We are proud to have him as a student of the Personality Development Program using Applied Storytelling, Public Speaking, Theatre, and Creative Writing tools under the mentorship of Facilitator Khusshbo Chokhaani. We congratulate Ansh for this exemplary true self-expression.

Winter Memories

It was the first month of the year in Switzerland. The weather was below freezing. The whole range of mountains was snowy.  The temperature was -4 degrees. Everybody was in their houses covered up in the blankets but the blankets were not giving enough warmth. Pine tree branches were covered with frost and all the coniferous trees were covered with snow.

Rohit got up in the morning for his routine exercise. This kept him healthy and strong full of energy throughout the day. He always helped his mother and cared for his little brother. He was always accommodating and caring. He loved to listen to stories from his grandparents. He was excited because his cousins were coming to visit them. It was their first time to visit this place of icy weather. He wished that the weather would be supportive during their trip.

They were all preparing for their welcome since morning. His mother cooked a delicious lunch and he prepared the checklist of activities that he would wish to do with his cousins. Suddenly, they saw on television that there was a warning of a cold storm for the next 24 hours. Flights could be diverted and roads could also get blocked.

Rohit and his father decided to leave early for airport pickup. Rohit gave an idea to carry Sodium Chloride chemical which could help to melt snow quickly from roads. He also asked his father to take a big insulated hot water bottle. Fortunately, they reached the airport safely and their cousin’s flight arrived early. His relatives collected their baggage and completed all formalities. While going back home, the roads were blocked with snow in some places. They managed to cross those hurdles with the help of chemicals and hot water which they got along. They were elated to reach home safely and on time.

The weather was harsh for the next 18 to 20 hours. After this Rohit enjoyed a lot with his cousin in all indoor and outdoor playtime. They ate sweet potatoes and fruit cake. They also went for skiing and ice skating. They had the most fun playing snowball fights and made wonderful memories.
