  1. Tough Examination

An original duologue written by our online student Ayaansh Agarwal. Ayaansh is a young orator and writer from Gurugram. We are proud to have him as a student in the Online Creative Writing & Public Speaking Program, using Applied Storytelling & Theatre tools under the mentorship of Trainer Khusshbo Chokhaani. We congratulate Ayaansh for this exemplary true self-expression.

Duologue: A dramatic performance or piece in the form of a dialogue limited to two speakers.

Setting: Fear of comparison, fear of failure, fear of not being well prepared, fear of low marks causes two classmates, Ayaansh and Arjun, to speak their hearts out to each other using fear vocabulary.

Duologue

Ayaansh: Arjun, I’m terrified about this exam. It feels like I’m walking straight into a lion’s den.
Arjun: I get it, Ayaansh. It’s like we’re tiptoeing on thin ice—one wrong step, and everything falls apart.

Ayaansh: I can’t shake this awful feeling in my gut. Every time I think about the exam, my stomach twists into knots.
Arjun: Yeah, the anxiety’s brutal. It’s like this dark cloud following us everywhere.

Ayaansh: I’ve been having nightmares about it. What if I freeze the second, I see the paper?
Arjun: Don’t let panic take over. If you do, you’re just digging yourself deeper into a hole.

Ayaansh: This exam feels like a ticking time bomb. The pressure’s building and I don’t know how much longer I can handle it.
Arjun: It’s the calm before the storm. Just hold on tight and ride it out. You’ve got this.

Ayaansh: I’m so scared of failing. It’s like going into battle without any armour.
Arjun: Failing isn’t the end of the world, but I get it. The fear’s real, but we’ve got to face it head-on.

Ayaansh: The thought of getting a bad grade makes me shiver. It’s like a shadow hanging over me.
Arjun: It’s easy to feel like you’re staring into an abyss, but don’t let that fear paralyze you.

Ayaansh: I feel like I’m running out of time, Arjun. The clock’s ticking, and I’m stuck in this race I can’t win.
Arjun: Time’s the enemy right now, but you can’t let it control you. Focus on what you can do.

Ayaansh: What if I blank out in the middle of the exam? Just the thought of it gives me chills.
Arjun: That’s the fear of the unknown talking. Trust yourself—you’ve been preparing for this.

Ayaansh: Every time I think about the exam, my heart races. It’s like I’m standing on the edge of a cliff, ready to fall.
Arjun: I feel it too. The fear of failing, of falling—it’s overwhelming. But you’re stronger than you think.

Ayaansh: What if my mind goes blank the second, I open the paper? I’m terrified of that happening.
Arjun: You’re overthinking it. Take a deep breath, stay calm, and everything will come back to you.

Ayaansh: I’m scared this exam will be my downfall. If I fail, I’ll never hear the end of it.
Arjun: That’s the worst-case scenario, but it’s not reality. You’ve prepared for this. Don’t let fear win.

Ayaansh: I’m second-guessing my entire study plan. What if I missed something important?
Arjun: It’s normal to feel that way, but panicking won’t help. Trust the work you’ve put in.

Ayaansh: I feel like I’m walking into a lion’s den. The pressure’s too much to handle!
Arjun: Remember, the lion’s roar is scarier than its bite. Stay calm, and you’ll get through it.

Ayaansh: Arjun, I’m afraid I’ll choke during the exam and make stupid mistakes.
Arjun: It happens to everyone. The key is to stay composed and not let fear take over.

Ayaansh: I’m scared I’ll be caught off guard by a tough question. It’s like stepping into the unknown.
Arjun: You’ve faced the unknown before and come out on top. This is just another challenge to conquer.

Ayaansh: This exam feels like a ticking time bomb, and I’m running out of time!
Arjun: Don’t focus on the clock. Take it one question at a time. You’ll get through it.

Ayaansh: I can’t shake this constant dread hanging over me. It’s suffocating.
Arjun: That’s just anxiety messing with you. The real test is staying calm in the face of it.

Ayaansh: I feel like I’m standing at the edge of a cliff. One wrong move, and it’s all over.
Arjun: It’s not as dire as it feels, Ayaansh. Take it step by step. You’ve got this.

Ayaansh: I’m terrified of failing and disappointing everyone. It’s like I’m carrying the weight of the world.
Arjun: You can’t control everything. Just do your best—that’s all anyone can ask of you.

Ayaansh: The more I study, the more I feel like I’m digging myself into a hole I can’t escape.
Arjun: That’s fear talking. Take a break, clear your mind, and come back stronger.

Ayaansh: I’m afraid I’ll be caught off guard by a question I didn’t prepare for.
Arjun: There’s always something unexpected, but you’ve got the skills to handle it.

Ayaansh: The thought of failing makes my heart race. What if it’s just too much for me?
Arjun: Fear’s always louder than reality. Once you start, you’ll see you’re stronger than you think.

Ayaansh: I’m getting more jittery by the minute. It’s like the fear is consuming me.
Arjun: That’s your body telling you to relax. Take a deep breath. You’re ready for this.

Ayaansh: I feel like I’m walking into a storm tomorrow. The exam’s just too overwhelming.
Arjun: Storms don’t last forever, Ayaansh. You’ll weather this one just fine.

Ayaansh: I can’t shake this feeling that I’m doomed to fail. It’s like I’m trapped in a lose-lose situation.
Arjun: You’re not doomed. Everyone has doubts, but you’ve worked too hard to let fear win.

Ayaansh: I’m so afraid of the consequences if I don’t do well. It feels like my whole future’s on the line.
Arjun: It’s just an exam, Ayaansh. Even if things don’t go perfectly, it’s not the end of the road.

Ayaansh: I keep picturing myself failing. It’s like I’m heading straight for disaster.
Arjun: Don’t let your imagination run wild. Focus on what you can control, and you’ll be fine.

Ayaansh: I’ve been thinking about everything that could go wrong. It’s like a ticking time bomb in my head.
Arjun: Ayaansh, you’re letting fear take over. Take it one step at a time—don’t let that bomb explode.

Ayaansh: I feel like I’m trapped in a maze with no way out. The more I study, the more lost I feel.
Arjun: You’re not lost. Step back, clear your mind, and focus on the basics. You’ll find your way.

Ayaansh: I’m scared I’ll be caught off guard by a question I didn’t prepare for. It’s like walking through a minefield.
Arjun: The minefield’s not as dangerous as it seems. You’ve got the tools to navigate it—just stay calm.

Ayaansh: Every time I think about the exam, I feel like I’m in a pressure cooker, ready to explode.
Arjun: That pressure’s temporary. Take a breath, release the steam, and trust yourself. You’re not going to burst.
