Day, Night & The Four Seasons
God sat back and said to himself, ’I have created such a nice earth and lots of men and women. But something is missing. Aha! Seasons!’ He called Sun, Day, Night, Wind, Rain, and Snow. ‘Go and share the time. Make sure earth is lively and happy with what you have done.’
But immediately when God turned his back on them, they started arguing. Sun said, “I am the oldest, so I Get the 1st year!” Rain said, ‘Fine! Then I did on 2nd!’ Wind, who was the youngest, got last as nobody listened to him. When it was the sun’s turn, crops grew well, and everyone was happy. But then it got too hot, and people could not take the heat. They prayed to God. Sun had to leave before his year was up.
Then the rain came. Like the sun, people were happy at first. The crops grew, and people got sufficient water. But people could not distribute the water well and there was either drought or floods around the earth. People prayed to stop the rain and rain had to leave before his year was up. Then winter came. People liked it and had fun in the snow. But again, it got too cold, and winter had to leave early. Then when the wind came, the same thing happened. And there were 24 hours of the day and 24 hours of the night.
Then they decided to share the year among themselves. But nobody cared about Wind, so he sat in a corner and sulked. Then the year started. The rain came with buckets of water, but it could not be distributed equally. Then they realized that wind was important. They gave Wind a chance to come in. But he did not get a separate part for himself. He got to blow all the time. In summer, He cooled down the earth, in the rainy season, he distributed the water, in winter, he blew and made it even colder! Day and night learned from the 4 brothers and shared a day instead of getting a full day for themselves.
And so is the story behind Day, Night, and the 4 seasons!
