Loki and The Talking Trees

Once upon a time, a fox called Loki lived in a deep dark forest. He claimed that he could talk to trees, but no one believed him. All the animals disrespected the plants and trees and were unaware of the importance of trees. The animals living there used to pluck plants just for playing. To them, trees were only meant for food. To prove that he could talk to trees and that trees were not just meant for food, Loki went to the King of Trees, the Banyan tree, and explained everything to Mr. Banyan tree.

Mr. Banyan Tree agreed with Loki, and they both made a plan. The next sunny morning, Loki announced a meeting at 3 pm. All the animals living there were in deep thought, wondering, ‘Why did Loki call us?’ In a blink of an eye, it was already 3 pm. At sharp 3 pm, all the animals gathered in the meeting area. Mr. Lion King asked, ‘Why did you call us, Loki?’

“Do you see all these trees? These trees are angry with all of you, and they are going to wither,” replied Loki.

“But who cares? Trees are only meant for food. We will arrange food from the neighborhood forest,” said Mr. Lion King.

‘NO! Trees are not just meant for food. If there will be no trees, rainfall will not occur, there will be no water, and one day our home will be dried. There will be no water to drink, and one day we all will die. Trees maintain the beauty of our home. Trees are not just meant for food. Trees gives us oxygen. They give us fresh air to breathe. They suck up carbon dioxide. They give us shade during peak summers,” replied Loki angrily.

After saying that, a drop of hush fell over that place. Loki could see feelings of regret in everyone’s eyes.

‘We are extremely sorry, but what should we do now?’ said Mr. Lion King.

‘Trees are extremely angry with all of you, but I will talk to them. Repeat after me, “We are extremely sorry for our rude behaviour towards you, and now we will not harm you all.”

Everyone repeated after Loki. Loki heard a voice coming from the dark of the forest, “We forgive you all this time, but this is the last time.” But this time, Loki and everyone heard the same voice.

Everyone started believing Loki and never harmed the trees from that day. They started planting more and more trees. They started taking care of trees.
