The Secret Five

It was the last day of school before the summer break. Summer Break was going to start the next day. All five friends decided to plan an adventurous trip. The friends were Ron, Harry, Tom, Jack, and John.

There was an island far away from their city. The name of the island was Atlantis. It was known for having the only park for dinosaurs in the world. They were keen to see the dinosaurs. So they decided to go to the island. But the only problem with them was they did not have enough money to buy tickets for the cruise.

They had an idea. There lived an uncle who had 30 years of experience sailing a ship as he had been a sailor when he was young. They decided to ask him to go with them. They went to his house. The uncle’s name was Alan Grant.

Ron asked, “Can you please come with us on this trip”. But uncle refused.

He said, “I am old now I do not have that much energy and power that you people have”.

But the children were not ready to accept it. They encouraged the uncle by saying “You are not that old that you have lost your energy, you still have enough power as much as we have”. But again, he denied it. After a lot of effort, they finally convinced him to go with them.

They gave their group the name “Team Secret Six”. The next day Team Secret Six was ready to carry their all stuff. The boat was ancient.

However, their uncle was successful in fixing the boat and it was ready. Everyone sat on the boat. Put on their jackets. And they were ready to go. The sun shined brightly; it was 8 am. It seemed that there would be no rain. Hence, they started their journey.

They sang songs, played games, and enjoyed themselves. Their journey seemed easy. But when it was 1 pm suddenly the wind began to blow heavily, and clouds began to gather in the sky which seemed that it was going to rain heavily. Everybody got scared and began to scream.

Huge water waves began to rise in the sea. The boat was hit by a wave. The boat tossed in the sea up and down. Everyone screamed with fear. The boat broke into pieces, and they took the support of one of the pieces of the boat. After that dreadful storm the next day they found themselves on one edge of the island. They did not know which island it was as all their maps and compasses were flown away in the storm. They all scrambled and moved in different directions to find out the place. Uncle Grant and Ron heard terrible and scary sounds coming from a distant place. When they went closer to the voice, they found that it was Atlantis Island which they were going to. Everyone was relieved. Although their stuff was drowned away still, they did not lose hope and enjoyed their trip.

Overcome Fear I Student Mishthi Mittal I Creative Writing Program

An original courageous story, written by our student Mishthi Mittal.

Overcome Fear

On an island with shining sun and soft breezes, seagulls were flying making a ‘miooo…….’ sound. The island is surrounded by crystal-like water and beautiful species of fishes. The fishes were swimming excitedly. The island was covered with tall trees. The island had many adventurous activities and house-shaped rooms.

On this island, there was a girl named Moon. She was just out of her teens. She was a beautiful, attractive, and adventurous girl. A thin girl having milk-like skin. She loved to smile, giggle and cheer showing her teeth. She usually wore slippers, and specs. She loved to wear a white shirt and a pink skirt.

She was spending her vacations on that island. One day she was on the seashore that having a peaceful sunbath while lying on a mat and wearing sunglasses after applying sunscreen. After a while she thought, “Should I go for some activities, or should I just sunbathe?” After thinking some time, she thought that she should go for some rides now. She then started walking towards the activities. First, she went for fishing when she found a mesmerizing Betta fish. Secondly, she attempted scuba diving where she found very pretty and rare fishes.

After many rides and activities, she went for bungee jumping but when she saw the height, she started hyperventilating. Even her breathing could be heard by other people. She was so afraid that she just sat there. She literally froze. Suddenly, the guard told her, “Hello, my dear child. You need to hold this rope tightly, and you have to jump from here. Don’t worry you will be all right. It’s safe”.

She then bent a little to see again. She said to the guard, “Hello sir the view is breathtaking. I love the view of the flowing water, the forest, birds chirping but the problem is that I am having acrophobia. I am scared of heights”. The guard tried to encourage her with comforting words and said, “Oh dear you should not worry just follow the steps that I am telling you. You will not be scared then. Trust me”.

Then Moon said nervously, “okay”.  First the guard asked her, to stand up and hold the rope tightly. She kept doing what the guard was telling her to do. She stood and held the rope. Guard told her, “Close your eyes. Keep your body free and imagine you are floating.”

She started imagining. When guard asked her to jump, she jumped. Initially she shouted while jumping down but when she reached the stability point, she opened her eyes slowly. She said, “Wow its fun”. She enjoyed the views of the forest, trees, river and the freedom.  When she returned to the base, she expressed her deep gratitude to the guard. “Thank You, Thank You , Thank You, for removing my deep-seated fear of heights. Now I am no more scared of heights”.

The guard smiled and replied, ” I did my job only nothing extra”.

Moon was on cloud nine to overcome her fear of heights and enjoyed her vacation thoroughly.
