Amara The Elemental

Once upon a time, in the enchanting land of Bharat, nestled between the mighty Himalayas and the waters of the Indian Ocean, there existed a mystical realm called Vrindavan. This lush green paradise was blessed with vibrant wildlife, waterfalls, and forests that whispered ancient secrets. The air was filled with the fragrance of blooming flowers, and the songs of exotic birds filled the ears of those who were kind at heart.

In the heart of Vrindavan, there lived a young girl named Amara. She possessed a special gift, the ability to connect with the elements of nature. Her almond-shaped eyes sparkled like the emerald-green meadows, and her sun-kissed skin reflected the warmth of the land. Amara’s journey began one fateful morning when she discovered a mysterious golden key hidden beneath a sacred banyan tree.

Driven by curiosity, Amara embarked on a quest to unravel the secrets of the golden key. With each step she took, the earth beneath her feet whispered ancient hymns, resonating with her soul. The rhythmic chirping of crickets guided her through dense forests, while the soft rustling of leaves urged her forward. Her senses danced with delight as she soaked in the symphony of nature that surrounded her.

Amara ventured deeper into the heart of the forest, where a mystical river flowed, its waters shimmering like it was out of a story. The gentle breeze carried the scent of sandalwood, mingled with the fragrant petals of jasmine, captivating her senses. She closed her eyes, inhaling deeply, and allowed the scents to transport her to a realm of peace.

As Amara followed the river’s melody, she stumbled upon a hidden cave adorned with intricate carvings. Ancient tales were etched into the walls, telling stories of forgotten kingdoms and mythical creatures. The cool, damp air inside the cave embraced her, heightening her sense of adventure. The touch of the ancient stone against her fingertips spoke of forgotten tales and whispered secrets of the past.

Deep within the heart of the cave, Amara discovered a hidden chamber. Bathed in ethereal light, a majestic phoenix feather rested atop a gleaming pedestal. Its vibrant hues shimmered with each movement, captivating her gaze. As Amara gently caressed the feather, an overwhelming warmth enveloped her, and she felt an indescribable connection to the spirit of the phoenix.

Suddenly, a melodious voice resonated through the chamber, accompanied by a chorus of wind chimes. “You have unlocked the power of the elements, dear Amara,” the voice whispered. “With your connection to the earth, the air, the water, and the fire within, you are destined to protect this realm and restore harmony to the land.” Amara had finally found purpose. She was excited but scared for what was to come before her. She knew that the challenges she would now face were far too dangerous but knew she had to do it. From then onwards Amara swore to protect the lands for years to come and restored harmony within the universe.

One day while Amara was walking in the forest she saw a golden deer. The deer looked towards Amara. Amazed by its beauty, Amara slowly began to approach. Whilst she had approached the deer, it soon became clear that the deer was hurt on its leg. Amara thought of this as a quest and went on a mission to find the deer’s medicine. It took Amara all day to find the medicine from the ancient trees of Vrindavan. When the deer was healed it came back to its original form as the phoenix. The phoenix told Amara that this was a test to see if the phoenix had picked someone worthy. Amara was glad she passed and went on her merry toward the city to save people. That was when she realized this was her purpose. She was always meant to save people, and she was born to do so.

Immunity In Teenagers I Student Veronica Ghallian I Online Program-Public Speaking Through Applied Storytelling & Theatre

An original speech, written by our student Veronica Ghallian.

Veronica Ghallian is 10 years old, a young orator and writer from Mumbai. We are proud to have her as a student of the Little Kathakar Program, an Online Public Speaking through Applied Storytelling & Theatre Program under the mentorship of Trainer Khusshbo Chokhaani. Immunity In Teenagers

Imagine, the top school in your city has almost 300 teenage students from grade 8 to grade 12. Their monthly attendance is 18 days out of 24 days a month. Does this sound healthy? That would have been a different issue if they had missed school for luxury or fun. But these students are missing because of low immunity. Doesn’t this sound shocking? Well, it is shocking to me. Today teenagers’ immunity is deteriorating day by day.

The reason their attendance is low is because they are falling sick. They either have colds, flu, or coughing most of the time. Some cases also reported body pain and stomach infection. According to Quick Stats, 37% of teenage students are falling sick in a month. This data is according to the survey they conducted in a few schools.

According to me, there are 3 primary reasons for their low immunity.

Firstly, due to weather conditions and climate change for example, exposure to high temperatures alters one, raising anxiety, depressive symptoms, irritability, and aggression. Teenagers feel powerless when they cannot keep calm and can neither fight nor flee the hot weather. This year in 2023, summer has arrived late and has been harsh and the shocking part is that more alluring cities like Jaipur, Gurgaon, and New Delhi have reported severe rainfall in peak summer. This affects the health of a teenager adversely.

Secondly, immunity in teenagers has severely deteriorated because of the rising trend of unhealthy food consumption. For example, today’s teenagers love to eat chocolates, and candies, which are full of liquid sugar and other harmful substances. Overeating sugar can contribute to people having too many calories, which can lead to weight gain. Being overweight increases your risk of health problems such as heart disease, and diabetes. It can also make it harder to control impulsive behaviours. According to WHO, there has been a severe rise in diabetes in children, teenagers, and youth. My neighbour is a paediatric dentist and I often see teenagers and young kids of 8 years old getting their cavities removed in his clinic.

Thirdly, the most important reason is the lifestyle of teenagers has changed drastically. Most teenagers have a smartphone, or video game addiction. They are couch potatoes during their meal times. Walking up the stairs has been replaced by elevators and lifts. Physical activity has reduced drastically. A physically active body is always stronger against diseases than a non-physically active body.

To conclude I would like to mention that health is not something which can be bought in the market. Health is built every day and a strong immunity is the fundamental pillar of this superstructure called health. Eat healthy. Avoid junk food, sweet and adulterated products. Exercise daily. Follow a healthy eating ritual by chewing your food well and mindfully. Don’t watch TV and being a Couch Potato. Wear comfortable clothes according to season. Most importantly keep stress at bay. Be cheerful. Walk, run or indulge in any physical activity daily. Immune System is built with a healthy daily ritual because a healthy immune system will give you a healthy body.
