The Regretting Revenge

Chapter – 1

A crushed car with no person lying dead at the side of a splashing lake on a green hill. A truck was also there lying on the bosquet going down the lake. Officers were all over the scene. Sirens wail around. Columnists were there with their cameras and causing a mess around. The inquisitors kept on their work to find the chauffeur and the truck driver. This gave the media a new scare head that said, “Is it an accident or a murder…?”.

About fifteen hours ago…, Eleanor, the chauffeur, was attending a shindig organized by her colleagues for celebrating her third year in her company. She had this trenchant jawline and silken black hair. She was accustomed to wearing black dresses with glossy black stilettos. She was a good observer and can see anything which normal people can’t see. However, when she is nervous or stressed, she usually gets panicked and does things in a very jumbled manner. When she was returning to her mansion in California, USA through a green hill, she got a text. It was from the CEO of the enterprise, Alexander (Also known as Xander in his office). She always retorts to his texts within 3 seconds so that there is no problem in her job. He asked her to take a flight to Osaka, Japan right away but didn’t mention the reason.

He kept on calling her and texting her. While driving she was distracted by the calls of Xander, her phone dropped! She tried to fetch it when suddenly she saw a truck centering on her. She saw the driver right away but all she was trying to do is to apply brakes. But it was too late. It was a deafening crash on the deserted road.

Chapter – 2

Eleanor opened her eyes, she was in a familiar room, lying on a cozy bed. The room was well organized with study materials stuck on the walls. There was a bright beam coming from the sliding door window. She can smell the scent of the perfume that she used when she was in college. About 10 years ago!!! She couldn’t find out where she was but only remembered some visions where she was driving at night and got a truck coming towards her. She then concentrated on the man in her vision who was driving the truck, she thinks that she knows the person somehow. After a few minutes, she remembered the whole scene and jumped up right away when she remembered the crash.

She looked around her room and thought, “This is not my room. My room was a lot larger than this. But wait a minute, this is my room but the one in which I lived a decade ago!! How is this possible???” she had a million thoughts running in her head. And then suddenly, there was a slam on the door. It was Eleanor’s mother calling her for breakfast and informing her that she is running late for her college.

Now this was the time when she was going crazy because her mother died in a plane crash while she was in her office. She was still deep down in her thoughts. Then she jumped out of her bed and took a glance at herself and realized that she is looking younger. She got out of her room and saw her mother. She hugged her tightly because she missed her a lot when she was all gone. She still thought that this is only a dream, and she is all dead in that accident. But at the same moment, there was a thing vibrating in her pocket. When she took out it, she saw that it was just a venerable flip phone. It was Abigail, Eleanor’s best friend at those time, Eleanor picked up her call and then there was this scream of Abigail telling her about the new release of the Kdrama “Incomplete Life” which they had both watched it about 7 times before. This made Eleanor realize that she is really in her past because this exact scene had happened on the same day.

Chapter – 3

She took an off from her college. She was just thinking about her college days and remembered their 4 members group. There were 2 boys and 2 girls. They came to know each other in their 1st year of college. There was Alexander (mostly known as Xander in our group and our CEO), who was all time humorless guy always thinking about his studies and future, and then there comes the comedian couple of our, which even made Xander laugh hard, these were Sebastian and Abigail. Both were of the same nature – Lazy, with no tension about studies or the future, always cause some chaos and made us in too.

While having these thoughts she suddenly thought about her accident. She remembered the person. It was no other than Sebastian because she saw his wristwatch given to him by Abigail. She made her very furious because they were friends and he tried to kill her. But suddenly something stroked her head. Sebastian can’t think of that much of a plan. He was dumb from starting, and although he passed in his college all because of Abigail’s help. Another thing is that only Xander was in much contact with Sebastian and no other one, not even Abigail. And because of Xander’s text only, she was on that road and had an accident with a truck that was driven by Sebastian. Eventually, Xander’s calls and texts made her distract from her path.

That means that it was Xander’s ploy to kill her by using Sebastian. This conclusion made Eleanor breathless with anger. Her inner self was making her take revenge for her death and make Xander feel guilty in the past only.

Last night she made a plan to take her revenge. She decided to first separate Xander and Sebastian so that it would be easy to get into the life of Xander.

Chapter – 4

The next day she went to her college wearing a white mini skirt and a brown sweater over her white loose shirt. The college was filled with the familiar people she knew. Then she saw Xander; Abigail and Sebastian coming towards her. So as per the plan she made, she normally talked to all three. Then during lunchtime, she told Abigail to take Sebastian to the new café to give a surprise to him. Then, she sat beside Xander on the Basketball court, where he usually sat to concentrate on his studies. Xander was trying to ignore her as she was sitting so close to him which made him hesitate. She just asked what he was doing and at the right time, she quietly took his phone and left the place with no words to him.

“Very good, Eleanor!! UUGGGH..!! WHAT WAS HIS PASSWORD!!?? Huh, might be my birthday date. Well,  I don’t know, lemme try. 1211…, this is it. But did he set his passcode as my birthday date when he wanted to kill me in the present?”, she thought. Now she did the thing which shouldn’t have done in the first place.

She spread hate for him by texting the teachers and the whole college students from his phone. She wrote the reality and rude things when she got to know when she started working. This made everyone angry and all the teachers showed this message to the principal. Xander with no clue about this was called to the principal office. While he was going to the office with the question in his mind WHY Eleanor came to him and asked him that where he was going and without his keen attention she dropped his phone into his bag. “OK then, I’ll wait for yeh till you come!” said Eleanor. She was all very happy inside.

When Xander was accused by the principal of this act done by him, he tried to explain that he don’t know anything about it that and he didn’t circulate these messages. But, nobody trusted him. He was given a four months suspension letter and also informed his parents about it. He was all broken from the inside and got out of the principal office. Eleanor was still standing outside with Abigail and Sebastian beside her.

He didn’t even take a glance at them and left running towards the exit gate. They also tail-backed him. Eleanor to know if his carrier is all broken down and Abigail and Sebastian to know what just happened. He lost control over his body. He ran towards the road and got hit by a car with a speed of 170km/hr.

Chapter – 5

This made him a lot of internal injuries and head injuries too. Eleanor was still seeing this moment. This made her regret a lot and she started to cry. Abigail was trying to wake him up and Sebastian was calling the police and ambulance. He had a long surgery of 20 hours where Eleanor was sitting awake all night and praying to save him at any cost. She prayed to go back into the present and get herself dead in place of Xander.

After the surgery, doctors came out of the room. She immediately caught their sight and asked them about him with rolling tears. They first hesitated and then told her that they brought him out of danger but he is in a coma. This made her unconscious and she found herself with Abigail and Sebastian. She was so worried about Xander that she jumped up and rushed toward his room.

After three months, there wasn’t even a single day when Eleanor didn’t give him a visit and prayed for him to wake up. She sat on the chair beside his bed and hold his pale white hand. Her tears rolled down her cheeks and regretted her mistake from the bottom of her heart. At that moment the doctor came with a nurse and told her to sit aside as they came for a regular checkup on him, when she was taking her hand out, her hand was all held tightly in her hands of Xander. His eyes were half opened and were only staring at her. They both were crying but they didn’t know why.

The doctor said her to step aside to check if this body system is stable or not, but still, they both were staring at each other. Eleanor suddenly disappeared from the room and left Xander in shock.

“Hey Mama, come play with us.” someone yelled at Eleanor. She opened her eyes, a bright light was all there. When she was trying to understand what was happening one small child, about 2 months old lying on a man’s lap crying aloud. She saw Xander trying to calm down that child and two girls, they were twins, were chasing each other. She saw a photograph in which she was wearing a white wedding gown and Xander standing beside her in a black suit with a white shirt. She quickly ran towards Xander and asked him with agitation that, “Are you Ok? Which year is it? Are you alright after being in a coma?”. He asked her to calm down and said, “I’m alright and it’s been 2 years of our wedding. What happened to you? ARE YOU OK? And when in my life I suffered from a coma?”. “UUH…nothing. Just saw a bad dream. I am all okay. Don’t worry.”. She thought, “I must have come back to the present. And I don’t think that whatever happened in the past has affected my present”.

She took a sigh of relief and was so happy to see her little kids and her lovely husband.

Anything is Possible I Student Himanshi Sharma I Creative Writing Program

An original story, written by our student Himanshi Sharma.

Himanshi is a student in Grade 6, studying at the prestigious Asian World School, Jaipur. Anything is Possible

In a quiet suburb called Oakville just outside of Toronto lived 7-year-old Grace Walker. Grace is an only child who has lots of friends and a happy little life.

Although Grace felt happy and loved, there was something niggling away at her. Everyone seemed to know exactly what they wanted to be when they were older. Unlike Grace’s friends who loved to play with dolls and bake muffins in pink tutus.  Grace was always outside playing in the mud and clearing snow with her toy truck.

Oakville Elementary holds an annual career fair. During this day children hear from adults about many different careers. They heard from doctors, held rabbits that came in with the local vet, they met a Senator running for election and a librarian who told everyone how she was born holding a book! But Grace had no inspiration whatsoever.

That evening Grace was very quiet at the dinner table. Her Mom was worried and asked her what was wrong. Grace began to cry as she poured her heart out to her mother about her future and career. Grace has always dreamed of becoming a firefighter, helping others and being a hero to families in situations of despair. When she told her friends they laughed as a girl can’t be a ‘fireman’. Grace’s Mom smiled and hugged her.

Her Mom went into her study and picked up her laptop. She ran a quick search and placed the laptop in front of Grace. As Grace looked up with tears running down her face, she saw the screen. There was a beautiful, smiling female firefighter accepting a medal from the Mayor for her bravery during a horrific car accident on the QEW road last year. In the photo she is holding one of the little girls she freed from the school bus. Grace couldn’t believe it

Grace’s Mom suggested they contact the firefighter on LinkedIn. Grace sat and waited hoping for a reply! They couldn’t contain their excitement when a reply flashed up a few minutes later. Constance Baker was her inspiration, finally. She continued to read Constance’s blog and followed her daily. Constance even suggested Grace joined an activity club at the weekend to learn outdoor skills and survival hacks.

That Summer Grace celebrated her birthday with a garden party with all her friends. When it was time to bring out the cake Grace was told to close her eyes. Suddenly they heard loud sirens coming closer and louder by the second. When she opened her eyes Constance in her full uniform and helmet was holding her cake and the rest of the crew were crowded around the fire truck. Grace’s friends and family were shrieking and lining up to ride in the fire truck and take pictures wearing the helmets. This was the best birthday Grace could ever have.

At school Grace was the talk of the hallways. She was so proud of her future dreams and now truly believed anything is possible.
