An original story written by our offline (Jaipur) student Viaan Sethia.
Viaan is 9 years old. A young pianist and a hard-working boy. We are proud to have him as a student of the Personality Development Program using Applied Storytelling, Public Speaking, Theatre, and Creative Writing tools under the mentorship of Facilitator Khusshbo Chokhaani. We congratulate Viaan for this exemplary true self-expression.
The Magical Pencil
Little Atharv was walking down the street wearing his murky clothes. He loved to eat and was still eating, scrunch-scrunch-scrunch crunch-crunch-crunch. He hurt his leg so he inched along the street. He was ravenous and was feeling undefeated.
It was the fall season in the United States of America. It was a cold evening when Atharv was coming home from school. There were rough trees all around with leaves of different colors. There was an aromatic smell of roses from a nearby yard.
Atharv was a smart boy who was good at everything. The only thing he disliked was doing his homework. The sight of homework frightened him. He had always wished to be able to complete his homework magically. As night approached, Atharv had his favorite dumplings for supper and soon fell asleep. He soon had a dream that he had a magical pencil that could complete all his homework magically. There was no end to his happiness. His life smoothened only until this day when his magical pencil had stopped working.
Soon he began thinking of the ways by which he could get the power of his magical pencil back. His happiness had no bounds when he found a solution to his problem. Atharv thought of making a model of the pencil and putting supernatural powers into it as he had always seen in movies. Soon the model was ready. Feeling very pleased with himself he tried to put magical power which was impossible for a normal human being. As he was trying out different ways to make it work, a vase on his bedside broke along with his dream. That was the end of his happiness.
Atharv sat at his bedside thinking if he could put in so much labor and hard work into making a magical pencil then he could also put that labor into doing his homework. He soon realized he needed no magical pencil to complete his work. He was capable of doing everything on his own.
