Marella and Rose

It was below-freezing temperatures in the USA. It was harsh cold and there was nobody to be seen outside. The mountains were snowy and icy and there wasn’t even a single sherpa volunteering. It was so frosty and foggy; that nobody couldn’t even see a single thing. There was snow everywhere, and it was at least 3 feet deep, people could not even walk. It was frigid and harsh, and people would be in 3 blankets, and be wearing like 5 layers of clothing. They were drinking soup while sitting around the bonfire.  During the day people want to indulge in downhill skiing and ice skating but they can’t because outside, they would get frostbite. Plants were dying or flying away because of the severe wind. It was snowing so that people’s cars would be buried in a few hours. The weather was raw it felt as if the sun would never come out, but in a few days, there it was shining at everybody.

A 12-year-old girl named Marella lived in the USA. She had short brown hair and brown eyes. She looked pretty and cute. She was also kind, and comforting, and everyone thought she was perfect, but she was not. She had her challenges. She could not walk. She always wanted to walk, to run, to play with other kids. Sadly, she couldn’t.

Marella had been in an accident a few years ago. She had been ice skating on a solid lake, but she fell, and the ice cracked. Her leg got stuck in the crack and she got hurt very badly. Since then, she couldn’t walk. One day, she was coming back from school in her electric wheelchair, which could move, by itself. She knew a secret path she used while coming back from school. It was right in the middle of the forest. The forest was magical as it would show the opposite of the weather outside. When it was winter outside, inside the forest it was blooming spring. She was enjoying the mesmerizing beauty of Mother Nature when she suddenly saw a little creature with vibrant colors. It was sitting on a branch right within her reach, so she got hold of it. The creature gave a little squeal. The creature looked up and told Marella, that her name was Rose. Rose had red hair like a rose, and that’s how she got her name.  Marella told her name and they both played for some time. From then on, Marella would visit her every day. One day, Rose was not there. Marella waited for a few minutes and just as she was about to leave Rose came. She told her that a gnome was after her so she had to hide until the gnome went away. Then she begged Marella to help. She suggested that she would do anything for Marella. Marella asked her to let her walk again, and Rose agreed. Marella asked how she could help.

Marella plucked an orange from the lowest branch of an orange tree and placed it on the ground. Soon, the gnome came searching for Rose, but Marella caught it. The gnome was frightened and promised to never trouble Rose again. He was set free. Rose thanked Marella and gave her a potion. She told her to drink it and then try to walk in a few minutes. Marella did as asked. Initially, it was a little wobbly walk, but she could walk! Marella was on cloud nine. She had tears in her eyes because she was overwhelmed.

Marella practiced every day and pretty soon she could do it very easily. She even made it to the basketball team. Everyone praised her for trying so hard. From then on, Marella was grateful and thanked Rose every day.

James The Orator

One morning young James was going to school. He was a brilliant and all-rounder student in the class. He was lean and beastly-looking, but very kind-hearted.

He lived in a luxurious mansion that everyone would have dreamed about. The mansion had 5 floors with luxurious amenities like a swimming pool, table tennis court, gym, and a large orchard outside. The high walls of the mansion were made of rock stones. He loved to spend time in his orchard, which had apples and cherry trees.

Then one day his friends came over and started discussing their dreams. James aspired to be the world’s finest orator. He was just 10 years old. He was suffering from some speech problems. He knew that he couldn’t read properly and he had been working hard at his reading for years and struggled a lot.

James wanted to read, but despite all his efforts, it was just not happening for him. Communicating efficiently was the only skill he aimed for. But continuous failures were adding up to his frustration and his sense of despair.

One day, he approached his parents for help. They took him to a therapist. He started taking speech therapy and other effective measures to cure it. Finally, many months and years passed. His big breakthrough came when he was happy to read a passage of a book out loud in his college class for the first time.
