Flapping Wings

It was chilly in the deep woods of Africa. The animals huddled tight to get warmth. The wind was blowing hard in the bone-chilling cold. Not a single bird flew out of their warm and cozy nests. The tree’s leaves were falling out rapidly. All of the species knew that the winter season had arrived.

Near the woods, there was an enormous tree. In that tree, there was a lonely bird named Scruffy. He was taking a nap in his nest. His fur was grey and yellow. He had a round white face with two beautiful eyes. He dreamed that he would be good at flying like the others.

Many of his friends were good at flying and won competitions against other birds. He was bullied a lot by his family and friends which made him feel sad. He had a passion for singing, but he was scared to sing as he thought the others would bully him. He had only one friend who would support him for his passion even though his friend was good at flying. His friend would always say that following passions always lead to success.

On a blistery evening, he went out for a stroll in the woods. Just then a flock came flying towards him and landed near Scruffy. The flock was teasing him for walking instead of flying. Finally, Scruffy had enough of bullying. He planned to sing a beautiful melody tomorrow night.

The next night it was harsh. He sat on a tree branch from where everyone could hear him. Then he sang his beautiful melody. All the species were amazed by his talent and when Scruffy finished singing, everyone had fallen asleep peacefully without noticing the frosty weather.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        The next day, everyone appreciated his talent which made Scruffy happy. Even the humans were intrigued by his exceptional voice. Scruffy was known as the bird with courage, confidence, and talent. He learned to never hide his ability and instead grow it. He inspired many other birds to sing. Thus, the songbirds were born.

Project Possible

Glacial wind flew around the mountain’s peaks of Nepal. Icy snow blanketed everything in sight. Not a single Sherpa was volunteering. Nobody dared to step out. No noise was to be heard or an animal to be seen. Everything was crystal white.

Hidden in all this snow was a lady named Vinita. She was very courageous, mighty, and thoughtful. Her brain was nimble as a fox. She adored mountaineering, especially in all this snow. She didn’t care what other people thought about her as long as she was happy with herself.

Most people took 7 years to climb all the 14 mountains of Nepal. But Vinita believed she could do it in 7 months if she managed to stay alive. People told her that her project was impossible, so she named it Project Possible. She didn’t care what other people said. All she cared about was earning Nepal some respect. But from inside she knew that even if she didn’t succeed at least, she made some memories.

She wore 15 layers of clothes, two puffy jackets and a heavy oxygen pack on her back. She started climbing the first 13 mountains just fine. But when it came to the 14th one, she came across a problem. A blizzard was building up and a land slide was about to crash! She had to think fast but her brain was not supporting her. Doubts were beginning to devour her but she remined herself that she had come so far, she can’t give up now. Even after that she was still in panic. The mountain began to shake. But she was not ready to give up.

She found a small curve and ran to it. Turns out it was a small cave-like structure, so she hid in it for a very long time. Until the crashing sound was not there. It took her a few minutes to realize she was almost there. Her project was now complete, and she recorded everything as proof.

She showed her proof of climbing all 14 mountains in 7 months to the president and got respect for Nepal. Nobody ever doubted her again and everyone counted on her. She was filled with uncontainable joy for the rest of the year.
