Brownie & Cocoa Summer Dream
It was a scorching hot summer day. People were sweating like crazy pigs. There was a volcano erupting inside every human and non-human. Every room in the whole town had an air conditioner on. The pool was filled with hundreds of people. The ice-creams in shops were getting sold out in minutes. Dogs and cats were panting, and all the birds were sitting under the shade of large leaves on huge trees. It was the most boiling summer people had seen for decades.
Witnessing all of this, were the dogs, Brownie and Cocoa, two little Shih-Tzus. They too were feeling like somebody had put them in an oven. In fact, probably worse, because they had thick fur coats. Brownie was a female, with white fur, and brown spots, the colour just like the brownie you eat. Cocoa was a male, who also had a white fur coat, but grey spots. His name was Cocoa, because his spots used to be a shade of brown, that looked like cocoa powder, but now these spots turned into grey color. They were sitting in their owner, Meera’s, room.
They were feeling delighted because a few days ago, they had heard Meera’s mother’s conversation on the phone. They had caught a few words, like Brownie and Cocoa, haircut, and 10th May. They knew a haircut meant getting all their fur cut off, which always made them feel much cooler. Soon, the doorbell rang. When Meera opened the door, it was the Dog Groomer. “Ruff ruff ruff” Brownie barked, which in dog language, meant “Yay! Yay! Yay!” “Woof” Cocoa answered, meaning, “me first.” They both had plenty of fun when they got wet for bathing.
Later on, they found out, it was their 1st birthday that day, whatever it was supposed to mean. They both shared the same wish. They wanted to be a human for one day. Meera had ordered a dog cake from her own pocket money, and she was telling them, that since they couldn’t blow out any candles, they had to make a wish when they ate their first bite. The cake was scrumptious. They both wished in their minds to be human for one day.
At night, they went off to sleep. When they woke up, they found out they were humans, named Arshiya and Adhira. They had the best day of their lives. The went to a water park, they sat on a plane, they sat on a horseback ride, and they tried many different types of food. They enjoyed their full day in the water park with rides, food, and each other’s company. Just when they were about to eat something called Crème- role, they heard Meera’s voice, “Brownie, Cocoa, wake up”. They sleepily opened their eyes and found out it had all been a dream, still, they were happy that even in a dream their wish came true.
