NJT Short Stories Collection #12

1. The Man Who Finally Had a Cooler

It was a hot and blazing day in a slum in Jaipur, India. Temperatures would reach forty-five to fifty degrees Celsius. People would get exhausted early. In that slum, lived a man. His name was Manoj. He was kind-hearted and polite and was very tall, fit and slim. He was thirty-four years old. The challenge was that Manoj couldn’t bear the unbelievable heat. He was perspiring so much. He couldn’t believe that he had gone through such terrible heat waves. He finally thought of a solution. He thought of calling a person who could make a cooler from the iron junk lying in the slum. He confirmed his idea with the Cooler Maker. Then Manoj called him. The cooler maker soon converted the junk into a cooler. It was a big, white and a perfect one. He made it exceptionally well. Manoj felt very relaxed and composed and all his work was done. He thanked the person. He could finally feel that he was fine. Manoj started to relax. While working, he wouldn’t feel tired. He remained exuberant and mirthful throughout the hot summer season and enjoyed himself peacefully.

2. The Boy from Dudu

It was one summer morning in a village called Dudu in India. It was a roasting oven because of the heat wave. People were sweating and fainting. Nobody ever could bear this much heat. In Dudu, there lived a boy named Ahmed. He was all alone, his parents passed away. He was short and obese, but light-hearted. He was ten years old. However, due to the heat, he was having problems and difficulties to live. He had no AC, fan, and a cooler. He lived with a small bulb in his house. He thought of a plan. He thought of making fans by learning from his friend’s father who was an electrician. Ahmed went to his friend’s house and requested his father to teach him to make a fan. After the whole day’s work, they finally made a fan. Ahmed thanked him. Ahmed felt relieved and relaxed that he finally got a fan. Ahmed would enjoy walking outside and playing. He could finally sit and live with proper electricity. Since then, he devoted his life to making fans and other electrical devices to help the poor people of his village. He got government aid and went to IIT, Delhi. After graduating from IIT, Delhi he built a multi-dollar company devoted to building reasonable electrical devices that would make the lives of the poor comfortable.

3. The Smart Girl

One summer afternoon, it was humid and stifling. The temperature was forty-six degrees Celsius in Mumbai. It was tiring and exhausting. However, there lived a girl. Her name was Rita. She was eleven years old. She was timid, weak, and thin. One day, her parents were sick. They were tossed with high fever. They were sick for five days. They were in a pathetic situation. She thought of buying medicines from a pharmacy. It was hot, but she would not care. If she wanted her parents to recover soon, she would have to go. She cared for her parents the most. She ran fast like a cheetah and reached the pharmacy. She bought the medicines. She ran like a lightning bolt. She reached home. She went to her parents’ room and gave them the medicines. She was happy and her parents were even proud. They were happy with her intelligence, smartness, and effort. They praised her. Her parents recovered in a week. They all started to enjoy themselves. They would go on trips everywhere. They lived with joy and mirth.

Trip To Nahargarh

One summer morning in Jaipur, the birds were falling from the tree due to extreme heat waves. The ice-balls vendors accompanied by the sugarcane and the ice-cream vendors were roaming around in this scorching heat for their bread and butter. Privileged ones lying down in the air-conditioned rooms. Children were having fun cause their summer holidays just started, some of them were enjoying playing indoor games and some were playing video games.

Rudra was at his home with his friend Harsh playing a FIFA video game and enjoying. After playing the same game again and again for hours they eventually got bored. Harsh decided to leave for his home.

Getting bored all day, in the evening Rudra got an idea, he immediately called Harsh and said, “Let’s go to the Nahargarh Fort……… it’s been a long time since we have gone somewhere out”. Listening to this Harsh replied, “What about the transport, and who will give us the permission?”. To this, Rudra replied, “We will take my car and driver for transport, and for permission, I have asked both of our moms. They have agreed to our plan”.

Both of them left for Nahargarh in the evening. They were very excited about the trip. They enjoyed the famous Maggie and sang songs on the trip. Both of them were having the best time of their lives. After some time with a heavy heart, they decided to go back to their home. On their way back suddenly their car broke down, they got scared and didn’t know what to do next. They decided to call someone but the battery of the phone was dead. Both of them were panicking and were unaware of anything. Their stomach started to crumble for food.  The driver was trying his best. The driver also had no money and his phone was discharged too

Suddenly Harsh got an idea. His father was the owner of a car company, and he knew a little bit about cars, because he changed their car’s coolant, checked the engine oil, and pushed the car a bit. This was their only hope they kept pushing the car, and the car started making some noise…………. and tadaaaaaa the car finally started.  Both of them were over the moon. They rushed to their home and the story to their parents.
