Riverside Memories

Once, there was a peaceful riverside. Flying and tweeting birds, along with the soothing sounds of gushing water, captured everyone’s heart. The water of the river was cold and chilly. The soft mud was resting at the bottom of the river like a cushion. Many plants surrounded the river just like warriors surround the king’s castle.

On a rocky ledge, sat a boy named Isaac. He was having a bad day. First, he got bullied by older kids. Second, he was extremely late to school and missed his important test. He wanted a little quiet place, so he went to the riverbank. The soothing sounds of the river calmed him down. He removed his shoes and started to walk on the sandy riverbank. The grass, flowers, and trees made up a flamboyant scenery to watch. Just as he was about to leave, a cold wave of water came up to his feet. He thought to call his friends to bathe in the serene river.

He ran to his friend’s house. After calling all of them, he went into the river, waiting for his friends to arrive. The water cooled him down as he was sweating due to the scorching heat.

After his friends, Simon, Shawn, Brad, and Ben, arrived, Isaac was overjoyed. He shouted and waved at them for his friends to notice him. They ran quickly and happily joined him in the river.

Everyone splashed water on each other. They were having the time of their lives. Giggling at each other, they stayed near the riverside for hours, trying to make the most of their time. After a long time in the river, everyone got out and dried themselves up. They were hungry. Rats were jumping around their stomach. They bought some food from a nearby food stall. They ate like never before.

The scrumptious food was fulfilling. They all sat on the sandy surface below the tree. All of them shared memorable stories about themselves. Each of the boys sang melodiously. For everyone to listen, it was a heaven for music.

Isaac said, “the riverbank is the best place to come”. Simon, Shawn, Ben and Bradley agreed without thinking. As time passed, and together, they went back home. Isaac cheered up and was free of his worries. His friends and he would cherish the moments forever.
