PRABHASKAR’S LOVE
Once upon a time, there lived a 12-year boy named Prabhaskar who loved animals. He lived in an apartment where some people had pets in their houses. He went to meet them every day. His parents would not allow him to keep a pet. Prabhaskar lived with his sister, without a pet. He loved all types of animals: dogs, parrots, cats, horses, and even street dogs. His desire, above all, was to have a pet. He wanted a pet of his own because it was awkward to spend all day at someone else’s house.
He would plead with his parents but they would not agree. They once agreed that they would get him one when he was 10 years old but when he turned 10, his parents declined. So, for the next 2 years, he continuously asked his parents for a puppy as his birthday gift. But his parents would not agree.
The challenge was that they lived in an apartment which was a two-bedroom flat. They did not have enough space for a pet. His parents were also of the view that Prabhaskar was not responsible and old enough to care for a pet. Even when they bought another apartment, which was a tad larger, they did not allow him to keep a pet. Now the only way was to show his parents that he was responsible and old enough to have a pet. But what should he do? He thought about this question for at least half an hour every day.
Then suddenly an opportunity sparked up. His neighbors had a sudden plan of going to Agra and their friend could not come on the same day on which they were leaving. So their neighbors asked Prabhaskar’s parents if they could keep their dog for a day. Fortunately, his parents agreed. Finally, Prabhaskar thought, “An opportunity to show my parents that I am capable of a pet”.
He showed care for the dog, who was named Bruno. He fed him, took him out for a walk, and played with him till the time their neighbors came back. He did not let the responsibility of a pet affect his studies also.
Prabhaskar’s parents then realized that he was capable and responsible enough for a pet. For his birthday, Prabhaskar’s parents gifted him an adorable little puppy. Prabhaskar was on cloud nine.
