Poetry Collection #12 -List Poems

1. Residents of My Fridge

Do you know I have a humongous fridge?
It has,

oranges all juicy and round,
apples for sure tasty with no brown,
there are yesterday’s eggs unscrambled.
and some leftover chips crumbled.
cucumbers with a fresh green,
and tomatoes all fresh and clean.
sour lemons with some sweet lime,
and potatoes to give me energy for a while.
some minced garlic and ginger,
there is also some cut-up lady finger.
I see some ice -berg lettuce, my favourite,
and zucchini. I’m sure you would love to savour it,
and apples, apples, apples,                                                                                                                                                                          are those apples, Kashmiri?

I’ll go enjoy some of the food
but ill complete the list next time for you

2. Don’t Wanna Grow Up

These years,
They passed by so quick’
I wish I could just hold on to every second, every moment, every breath;

Don’t remember when a three turned into a thirteen,
don’t remember how tiny steps turned into big leaps,
don’t remember when story telling turned into gossip,
don’t remember when lipstick stains on the cheek turned into rushed goodbyes,
Don’t remember when family time turned into separate hours on screen,
and when I grew up from your womb to end up in the next room;

These years went fast,
wish I could live every moment again to the last,
time is moving by, just wanna hold on tight;

3. My Mood Every Week

I remember being glad and delighted on Monday,

Cheerful and thrilled on Tuesday,

Elated and ecstatic on Wednesday,

Excited and loved on Thursday,

Pumped up with a glass of upbeat on Friday,

Yet the days of my holiday, I was only upset and bored all day.

Poetry Collection #11: List Poems by Rishik Grover

1.DIWALI

Diwali is my favorite festival,

It has so many fun things to do,

I don’t even know where to start.

The lighting of Diyas,

The bursting of fireworks,

The creation of rangolis,

The sweetness of delicacies,

The fun of opening gifts,

The meetings in family gatherings,

The fragrance of new clothes,

The hustle and bustle during renovation and cleaning,

The sound before community celebrations,

The suspense of storytelling,

The warmth provided by bonfires,

The richness of cultural diversity,

The donation of charity,

The planning behind holidays,

The bright display of lights,

The fun in dance and music,

The confusion in shopping and so much more.

These are some of the many reasons,

As to why Diwali is my favorite festival.

It’s the lights, sweets, and happy feeling,

2. MY REFRIGERATOR

My refrigerator is the biggest in the world,

It can fit an entire country’s food,

It’s so big that it can contain…

A couple of cubes of cheese,

An adequate amount of butter,

A big fat hefty chicken,

And a plump turkey,

Plenteous boxes of fish and,

a sufficient amount of milk,

A big plate of pears,

And the meat from some bears,

A suitable amount of ice cream,

And an extravagant quantity of juice,

A decent portion of my leftover cake

And a satisfying number of chocolates.

I bet you wish you had my refrigerator,

After all no refrigerator can fit even half,

The amount of food that my refrigerator can.

3. BIRTHDAY

Yesterday was my friend’s birthday,

It was the most fun one, he had ever had,

He had his head over his heels,

And he was sitting pretty, like a dog with two tails,

He was feeling high in a fool’s paradise,

He felt pumped up like a happy bunny with not a care in the world,

He was pleased as punch and as happy as a lark,

He was grinning from ear to ear,

Feeling tickled pink, bursting with joy,

He looked like he was on top of the world,

On cloud nine, you could say,

He was over the world, having a ball,

Grinning like a Cheshire cat,

feeling in high spirits, like sunshine and rainbows.

Oh, how I wish that this was my birthday.

Even I want to be pleased as punch.
