Deep Into Darkness

Screech! The driver slammed on brakes, “The Duncan’s, 136 Avenue Road, Terlingua, Texas 141. Can I help you with the luggage miss?”. “It would be very helpful to do so” answered Sophie. She took a look around while the cab driver took the luggage out. The weather was moderate, kids played on the footpath. There were lush green gardens all around having flowers of exquisite colors. But the house she was moving into looked out of place, but who dares to care about the looks of a big house for cheap? “Ahem”, Sophie was startled, she looks back to see the cab driver stare at her questionably, and she swiftly paid the fare.  The cab was gone she looked all around once and then headed into the house.

Sophie was a girl of 18 years, her skin was fair and she was appreciated countless numbers of times for her lustrous blond hair. Sophie had casual attire as any normal college freshman would. Leaving her home in New York and came to study here in Texas. For a couple of weeks, she had been searching for a home in the neighborhood. The Duncans were a family who had an empty house in Texas and were willing to rent it, seeing the size and the rent she quickly took it nonchalant about the looks.

Before her lay a living room with a comfy sofa and a small T.V., on the other side of which was the kitchen. There was a passage to the right which lead to the bathroom. The stairs between the kitchen and living room led to the second floor where there was a hallway at the end of which was the bedroom. Now she arranged her stuff throughout the day and then having dinner she went to bed, tired from a long day’s work she went into a deep sleep.

Sophie woke up at midnight longing for a glass of water, upon quenching her thirst she was going to the bedroom when after she reached the second floor the lights went out, from the reserve power only one light in the hallway was lit. Now, when she was little, she had Bathophobia or a phobia of dark deep spaces like a dark hallway, she SLOWLY SLOWLY OVERCAME her phobia with exposure to it, but after MANY years it awakened AGAIN.

She slowly walked towards the bedroom, suddenly she could hear a song in a soft voice “I know you well, come into me, I am darkness”. The pace of the song increased with every minute and second. And then came running towards her a white lady with her hair dangling as if she was going to kill her and she passed out. The next day at college she felt as if it was a dream and continued her life as if nothing happened. But the incident did not stop, and it repeated every night to such an extent that she drove herself to madness.

One morning, one kid accidentally threw the ball into the house, so he rang the bell. After waiting for a long time the kid grew impatient and called his mom, again after waiting they decided to call the police. The cops broke into the house, they headed straight to the bedroom to find her dead. Lying on the floor beside her was a bottle and a note explaining everything. Post-mortem results declared she died by consuming Cyanide. After a thorough investigation, they found out that she was disturbed by the exposure to a phobia which cause her to hallucinate and see things (hyper imagination), not being able to take the pressure she snuck Cyanide from chemistry class and committed suicide, ending her devastating pain.

The Haunted House

Once on a very dark, cold night there lived the Nicholls family.  They were a kind-hearted, happy family. Their house was quite grand, but it was strange sometimes as well.

The story begins with the Nicholls family fast asleep in their warm cozy beds.  During the night when the clock struck midnight, a silvery white ghost appeared.  After the ghost appeared, he yowled a very spooky sound.  Whenever he yowled that sound, lightning struck!  Even though the sounds were so loud, the family was still asleep.

Well, asleep except for two – Molly and Holly, the 9-year-old twins.  The twins were adventurous. They decided to find what was making that spooky sound.  They jumped out of bed and started looking.  First, they looked under their beds, then behind the clock and all around the house but they couldn’t find where the yowling was coming from. They looked outside but they still couldn’t find where the noise was coming from.  Eventually, they gave up.  Holly said, “If we saw whatever that spooky thing was, should we have told them off?”.  Molly replied, “Yes”.  They silently crept back to bed.

In the morning Holly and Molly heard a crying sound coming from outside.  The girls politely asked if they could go outside.  Their Mum replied, “Of course, you can go, as long as you get dressed first”.  “We will Mum,” they said running up the stairs and flinging off their pajamas along the way.

After the twins got dressed, they quickly raced outside to the grassy garden.  Suddenly they came to a stop when they were face to face with a crying ghost.  Molly said bravely what’s the matter” while shaking. “Are you alright?”.  “I keep scaring people but all I want to do is to help” said the ghost sadly.  “Hmm,” Holly said.  “I’ve got an idea!  Our Dad is an excellent inventor.  I’m sure he can help!”.  “Great!” said the ghost.  “I’m glad you found me”. All three decided to meet after the girls had told Dad what had been going on.

The girls found their dad busy tinkering in the cellar making new fantastic inventions like he always did. Dad said, “I’m making a no spooky sound medicine”.  “Well, what a coincidence.”, said Holly. Molly asked Dad if she could borrow it and off the girls went carefully clutching the medicine making sure they didn’t spill a drop.  They gave the ghost the medicine.  He trusted the girls by drinking it all up.  That night, the ghost went back to the Nicholls family house and tried to make a spooky noise, but it didn’t happen.  He knew that the medicine had done its work.  The ghost was so thankful for the twin’s help, he silently floated into the girl’s bedroom and whispered, “THANK YOU!”.

But wait, later the family was asleep, and the ghost was cured so who just made that yowl?
