Tom The Glider

Slurp! Slurp! Slurp! Everyone enjoyed their warm hot chocolate in the café. Meanwhile, it was freezing outside in the cold winter, hundreds of people were waiting out in the chilly weather for a hot chocolate. It took so long for everyone to get space inside the cafe. Tik, Tok, Tik, Tok, as time passed each person walked out to the café.

Later that day a young boy called Tom was walking out in the chilly weather with his ice skates. He had red cheeks which were as soft as a blanket. His hair was yellow like a lion’s paw. He was always dressed smartly to school like an intelligent lad. Tom made sure he was always kind. He always aspired to become an ice skater and learned various tricks.

Scrunch, scrunch, scrunch… as Tom walked over the snow and reached his destination. He began learning the basics, crack, crack, crack he was able to walk on the ice. Tom wanted to glide as the weather became better. Since it was a fresh day and there was not much wind, Tom had to glide normally. As he was about to glide, he fell over the ice again and again and Tom went back home disappointed, as he couldn’t glide properly.

But Tom didn’t give up that easily. Every day he’d read a book about ice skating but found nothing about gliding. He kept on thinking about a solution to his problem. The very next day he tried to glide on the frosty ice he failed for the first time but didn’t give up, he tried still he couldn’t glide. He decided to try one more time, and he was able to glide successfully. Since then, he always practiced gliding as much as possible. He realized that he could not give in to his failures. He must keep on trying. This realization and continuous practice made him a renowned and successful glider when he grew up.

Maya’s Victory

Children were waiting in the harsh snow for the bell to ring. RING – RING – RING !! it rang in the cold climate. They all went inside through the ice-hard path. The school was like a heater. It was warm and crisp at the same time. The breakfast hallway smelled like hot cocoa. Everyone wore snow boots. Some people wore heavy coats which made them look like warm stuffies. Everyone had hot cocoa in their hands. They were drinking hot cocoa with their frozen lips. The climate was slowly changing. It felt fresh now. And that’s when the bell rang again RING – RING – RING!!!

In this school, there was a girl whose name was Maya. She had white sparkling skin with an apple-shaped face. Her cheeks were very pink which made Maya look like a cherry. Maya’s hair was like a hare, wavy and smooth as whipped cream. She wore a blue jumpsuit with white high socks in contrast with the boots, hat, and coat.

While she was cute on the outside, Maya had a smart brain accompanied by her sneaky and funny attitude. Maya could handle any tough situation with her smart brain. But as she was an extraordinary girl, Maya was scared of darkness. And that’s why her bedroom lights were always on. Despite her weakness, Maya wanted to overcome her fear of darkness.

Maya was participating in the “Annual Winterfest Ice Skating”. She wore her warm and fluffy clothes and began to skate. But as she was ice-skating the lights suddenly went off! Maya once got frightened and began to scream. After a few minutes, she stopped screaming. She spoke to herself, “that this is the time to overcome my fear but, how?” Maya got an idea!

She started to think and visualize the things and the ones she loved. After some time, the lights came back. Maya was elated because finally she could overcome her fear. From that day onwards she never-ever feared darkness. She embraced darkness because she knew that she could only achieve her goal by facing it.  She didn’t perform well in the Ice-Skating Ring, but she was overjoyed to get victory within.
