Brownie & Cocoa Summer Dream

It was a scorching hot summer day. People were sweating like crazy pigs.  There was a volcano erupting inside every human and non-human. Every room in the whole town had an air conditioner on. The pool was filled with hundreds of people. The ice-creams in shops were getting sold out in minutes. Dogs and cats were panting, and all the birds were sitting under the shade of large leaves on huge trees.  It was the most boiling summer people had seen for decades.

Witnessing all of this, were the dogs, Brownie and Cocoa, two little Shih-Tzus. They too were feeling like somebody had put them in an oven. In fact, probably worse, because they had thick fur coats. Brownie was a female, with white fur, and brown spots, the colour just like the brownie you eat. Cocoa was a male, who also had a white fur coat, but grey spots. His name was Cocoa, because his spots used to be a shade of brown, that looked like cocoa powder, but now these spots turned into grey color. They were sitting in their owner, Meera’s, room.

They were feeling delighted because a few days ago, they had heard Meera’s mother’s conversation on the phone. They had caught a few words, like Brownie and Cocoa, haircut, and 10th May. They knew a haircut meant getting all their fur cut off, which always made them feel much cooler. Soon, the doorbell rang. When Meera opened the door, it was the Dog Groomer. “Ruff ruff ruff” Brownie barked, which in dog language, meant “Yay! Yay! Yay!” “Woof” Cocoa answered, meaning, “me first.” They both had plenty of fun when they got wet for bathing.

Later on, they found out, it was their 1st birthday that day, whatever it was supposed to mean. They both shared the same wish. They wanted to be a human for one day. Meera had ordered a dog cake from her own pocket money, and she was telling them, that since they couldn’t blow out any candles, they had to make a wish when they ate their first bite. The cake was scrumptious. They both wished in their minds to be human for one day.

At night, they went off to sleep. When they woke up, they found out they were humans, named Arshiya and Adhira. They had the best day of their lives. The went to a water park, they sat on a plane, they sat on a horseback ride, and they tried many different types of food. They enjoyed their full day in the water park with rides, food, and each other’s company.  Just when they were about to eat something called Crème- role, they heard Meera’s voice, “Brownie, Cocoa, wake up”. They sleepily opened their eyes and found out it had all been a dream, still, they were happy that even in a dream their wish came true.

It was a very chilly and blistery day in one of the most frigid and icy cities in India, Shimla. It was so harsh and raw. People could not go out of the house only. People were feeling nippy and were shivering like anything. The residents of Shimla had a hard time. Every day, snow would keep on falling into the cars and their entrance to the house and people would take extra time and put in extra effort to remove it. Here snowstorms, icicles, ice scrapers, and many more like this were common. People were wearing such fat clothes. It was subzero.

In a massive house, lived a couple. There was a man named Deep and a woman who was his wife, Sonam. Deep was very tall and slim while Sonam had a medium height and was plump. Deep was wearing an anorak jacket, a cap, a sweater, socks, and boots while Sonam was wearing leggings, cashmere, base layers, sherpa, and a cardigan. They both sat near the fireplace and were elated.

Suddenly, Deep had a plan. He thought of playing football with his friends. He always found playing football in winter was better than playing in summer. Deep loved winters and football a lot. Deep went to wear his clothes to play football in.

After Deep was ready, Sonam informed him that a snowstorm was just about to come. Sonam said that when you were in the office, some days back, a snowstorm came, then in the evening an ice scraper came, and icy precipitation happened side by side. Icicles came as well late at night. So, then, you know what happened. Deep told Sonam that it is all nonsense what you said, nothing happens in a snowstorm, okay? Deep told Sonam to stop speaking. Deep didn’t understand what Sonam said. He didn’t want to take care of himself. Soon, his friends called him, and he went. The moment Deep started running, the snowstorm started and as it started, he fell badly. His leg got a fracture, that to a major fracture. It was severely paining like anything. His friends took it likely. But Sonam told them to run away. She shouted. Sonam called the ambulance after 2 hours when the snowstorm was in control.

The ambulance came in an hour and took Deep and Sonam to the hospital. The dangerous and life-threatening snowstorm stopped in the middle of their way. When they reached, Deep lay down and a plaster was put. Sonam asked the doctor how much time he recover. The doctor said a month. Sonam was shocked and startled to hear this.

After a month, Sonam came to the hospital. She was feeling very lonely. She missed Deep a lot. She then helped Deep and Deep was finally fine. The doctor said you should take care. So, did, Sonam tell him that? Deep regretted. He finally understood that in a snowstorm, taking care is much more important than just playing football. Deep only played when it was the right time.
