A series of different styles of poetry written by our student Asmi Gupta.

Asmi is 14 years old and from Jaipur, Rajasthan. She is inspired by the inequalities, taboos, and superstitions that are prevalent in society. She loves to write because she believes she can bring a positive change in the society through her writings. We are proud to have her as a student of the Little Writers Program, an Online Creative Writing Program using Applied Storytelling & Theatre tools under the mentorship of Trainer Khusshbo Chokhaani. We congratulate Asmi for this exemplary true self-expression.

Poetry Collection #3 By Poet Asmi Gupta

1. “Mom”- Couplet Style Poetry

You make me smile on every beat,
you always make my favourite sweet.

When I cry, you wipe my tears,
when I am scared, you extract my fears.

Your love is the dearest to me,
you make me feel glee.

Your heart is molded with delight;
You are the most daring knight.

You taught me lessons like no other,
I am fortunate to have you as my mother.

2. “Be The Way You Are” -Free Style Poetry

Always don’t have to be as sweet as sugar

Bloom like a flower

Cheer yourself

Don’t look at only the difficulties

Explore everything

Feel free like a bird

Give yourself a chance

Have faith in yourself

Indulge in yourself

Just be confident

Know your dreams

Learn something new everyday

Make new recipes

Never forget to enjoy the day

Offer support

Praise yourself for good things

Quell your fears

Run after your goals as fast as the wind

Smile like sunshine

Tell the truth

Understand things

Value others opinions

Walk on the right path

(E)Xcellence is what

You want

Zip the words unnecessary.

3. “Why?” – Couplet Style Poetry

Why can’t I go out at night?
When I am menstruating, why cannot I wear white?

Why can’t I have equal rights?
Why can’t I be as strong as a knight?

Why do I always have to be polite?
Why can’t I get into a fight?

Why do I have to live like a parasite?
Why can’t I be as free as a kite?

Even I can be innovative right?
Why do I have to stay quiet?

Even I can differentiate between what is wrong and right
I am like a spark who can set the petrol alight

For my achievements even I should be given some cite
Give me some respect or wait and watch how I will change the world tonight.

4. “Music To Me”- Couplet Style Poetry

Whenever I hear music
It makes my mind free

It’s like flowing with the waves
And moving into the sea

Music is my life and without it I am incomplete
And it’s just similar to a deserted street

Music makes me fearless
Music makes me tearless

Music can make you a rock star
But for me it’s who you are

The Vain Little Snowman I Student Shreyash Agarwal I Little Writers Program

By admin in Free Verse, Poetry on October 12, 2022

An original Free Verse Poem by our Student Shreyash Bajaj.

Shreyash is a 10-year-old young writer from Singapore. Reading and Writing are his strengths. We are proud to have him as a student of the Little Writers Program, an Online Creative Writing Program using Applied Storytelling & Theatre tools under the mentorship of Trainer Khusshbo Chokhaani. We congratulate Shreyash for this exemplary true self-expression.

The Vain Little Snowman

The sky was snowing!

The wind The Vain Little Snowman blowing!

Winter was here!

Winter was here!

In no time at all a snowman appeared.

He was round and fat

with a stout little hat.

He had two black eyes

and a big wide smile.

He held his head up high

and told all his folk,

” Unlike you,

I will never melt and die”

Then he told all of the trees,

”The children don’t like you,

they only like me”

He told the robins,

” Just look at your feathers,

so dirty and grimy.

Now look at my buttons so clean and shiny!”

And so the vain little snowman

stood with his pride,

until finally summer arrived.

The trees grew leaves

and the robins flew.

And as the sun grew hotter and hotter

the snowman was now no more than a puddle of water!
